Manifestation…. Also known as the Law of Attraction.
Seems a little “woo woo”, right? Maybe a bit from New Age theories? Maybe this “Genie in a Bottle” is what we’re thinking of……
If you’re not familiar with it, here is a fancy schmancy definition for you smart peeps:
The law of attraction is the name given to the belief that “like attracts like” and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results.

Yes, manifestation can sound a bit “hocus pocus,” if we don’t direct our attention in the right direction. I love to listen to a lot of podcasts because this girl is ALWAYS learning! Most of the time my podcasts are more faith based or business based, but some are more about our minds and dealing with stress. I recently heard a podcast on manifestation and how to manifest your ultimate desires in life and/or business. I will admit, a lot of it I did not agree with. Especially when they start talking about the “universe” or “mother earth” and how we need to give in to our vibrations and feel the universe’s energy. OK Ok, you’ve totally lost me now peeps!! BUT…..this is how I look at it and this is just ME! I am no expert, I am just a Jesus-lovin girl, who always wants to make sure God is #1 !!!!
This is how I see it………. You see this man here, lifting his hands to the sky. I feel with manifestation, we are reaching to God, putting our lives in His hands and saying, “God, these are my deepest desires and if it is YOUR WILL, I am ready to receive!”
How does this manifestation work?
With manifestation, you can write things down in a journal, say them out loud, make a vision board, put post-it notes all over the house; whatever works best for you. You basically write out how you see your life in the future and you write in present tense. You may say something like this:
- I am a 6 figure earner
- I am running a hugely successful company
- I am fit and healthy and 50 pounds lighter
- I am the President of _______ company
- I am a leader
- I am confident
You get the picture. It can be about your looks, your personality, your business traits, your marriage, your future mate, your business…..anything at all you desire.

How to Apply Manifestation in Your Christian Walk
I do not believe that if I just think something, it’s going to happen. We as humans do not have that kind of power. BUT, I do know who does!———– Our Heavenly Father!! So the way I look at manifestation is this; I use all of those desires that I have and I put them in God’s hands. I thank Him for blessing me with these amazing things, I thank Him for His favor that surrounds me and I also am clear that if it’s not His Will, then I want HIS WILL, not my own. I also use scripture to back this up because if you’re familiar with God’s word, He makes ALL kinds of promises to us throughout the Bible.
- He promises to grant us our heart’s desires
- He promises to heal our bodies
- He promises to make us great among nations
- He promises to equip us with all we need
I could go on and on… I also truly believe God puts dreams in our hearts and He wants us to go after them. I do not think He will just drop them all in our laps, He wants us to GO after them; pursue them, take that one step towards that dream. If we do that, it’s showing a huge amount of faith in Him as our Savior. If we sit on our booties and do nothing, He’s not going to just plop those dreams right in front of us. He wants us to work. I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, “I have a big dream of moving ‘here’ and doing ‘this’ and I’m just waiting on God to make it happen.” HA HA HA! These people are doing absolutely nothing to make that happen. I am NOT saying that God won’t give us any signs to go after something, but we, as humans, are NOT good at seeing His signs; Unfortunately, I know all about that! So He probably is giving you sign after sign after sign but you’re not seeing it.
Let’s change our thinking peeps! My first piece of advice is to wake up and before your feet hit the ground, start positive thinking right then and there! Praise God for giving you another day. Thank Him that it’s going to be a great day and His favor will be surrounding you everywhere you go. This is the best way to start the day and by letting Him know, you trust Him, you love Him and He’s first on your mind. My book, “But First, Pray” is a lot about this concept of making time for Him. The Secret
You’ve probably heard of the popular book, The Secret. It came out years ago and really brought this whole idea of the “law of attraction” more into mainstream, thanks to Oprah and so many celebrities. Asking, believing, and receiving are words found in this book. Hmmmmmm, where have we heard those words before???? OH, I know! THE BIBLE!
Matthew 7: 7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Looks like we are already “manifesting” even in our Christian faith.
Dream HUGE
God wants us to dream HUGE! There is absolutely NOTHING He can’t do! God created the universe, the stars, the birds, trees, oceans, mountains, even YOU!! So believe me, our dreams are nothing for Him. He wants to do massive things in our lives, so why not ask Him??? Why not go ahead and believe they’re happening???? We don’t need to thank God for the $100 extra in our bank account, especially when He can make it hundreds of thousands!! Do NOT put limits on Him!
I read a really good book, “The Power of I am,” but Joel Osteen and that book is very much about affirmations and making good things come into your life. Check it out HERE. He always brings it back to God and scripture to back up his views. Joyce Meyer, whom I truly admire, talks about thanking God for the favor that is in your life; she says to do this daily and really believe it!
How Can We Use This to Change Our Thinking?
We are so conditioned to always be thinking negatively. We live in a fallen world with so many bad things surrounding us daily. It is important for us to start looking for God’s blessings wherever we are; whether you feel like it or not. We have to train our minds to start thinking differently. This is very similar to manifestation; saying how good things are, even if you don’t feel like they are. I believe if we train our minds to see the good and be grateful for what we have, there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t mean the bad things are going to disappear, but the more positively you look at things, the more you will start to see the good stuff and your mind will start to believe it more and more. Our minds need to be trained just like the other muscles in our body.
I have found that whenever I have put my attention on something, especially if I am deeply emotional about it, I attract what I am thinking about into my life (that can be good or bad, so be careful what you’re thinking!) When we are real with God and when our intentions and emotions are strong and pure, I believe that God answers. He may not answer in the exact way we want, but He knows what’s best so we can always trust His way is the right way!
I have started making a habit of journaling every morning during my prayer time. I use this time to write out my desires to God; I make it like a prayer. I add scripture and journal about that particular verse and write that out as a prayer as well. I do believe that putting pen to paper really helps with your thoughts, using it to pray, and a great way to go back and see how God answered your prayers!
And I am so excited because my mother and I will be discussing how to journal and fit this practice into your daily life at our upcoming wellness retreat!!! Want more info about our retreat? CLICK HERE
