Don’t Be Discouraged, Singles

September 27, 2016

For those of you that may not know, I used to call myself a professional single!  I was single into my 40’s and thought I would never find my Prince Charming.   It was a very long hard road, but I knew in my heart that God had a plan for me, no matter how much heartache I endured throughout those many years.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”    Jeremiah 29:11

That was a verse I lived by daily because of how confused I was at why God was making me wait so long when everyone I knew was already married for many many years.

I was in serious relationship after serious relationship and each one I thought, “this must be the one!”    Or in the very back of my mind, I knew I was settling, but when you’re right at 40, you pretty much think you’re not going to get much else, so you just take what you can get and it’s not like you’re really unhappy.

I have since learned that if you settle, you are not leaving yourself open for God’s best to come into your life.  You can miss him/her if you’re unavailable.      Don’t be so in love with the thought of being in “love”, that you make that your god and you end up worshiping that more than your Heavenly Father.

Keep in mind, God may be working on your future spouse and it’s taking a bit longer than you’d like, but God’s timing is NOT our own.   Spend your time focusing on your relationship with the Lord.   Wake up every morning and have quiet time with Him; tell Him your dreams and your fears and your struggles.  He wants to hear from you and to know you are placing Him first in your life.   Then He will bring you the desires of your heart.  Just stay true to Him, focus on Him and He will do this!

Stay tuned and I’ll tell you more about my days as a single and how I met my amazing, God loving Hubby.
